Our road trip ideas 🚍
A sparkling break surrounded by nature, amidst vineyards and picturesque villages steeped in history.
You’ll be surprised… Champagne is not just about this delicious sparkling drink. Discover a sublime region, from the Montagne de Reims Natural Park to the forests of the Ardennes, via the Vosges countryside. Here, you can put down your bags (or pitch your tent) at a campsite in the countryside and switch off! And of course, you can enjoy the great outdoors: fishing, hiking, cycling… Champagne is also about taking the time to explore the cellars and champagne houses, chat with the producers, discover a rich and vibrant heritage, and enjoy a weekend (or more if you like) to soak up the region’s unique atmosphere. In Châlons-en-Champagne, don’t miss a boat trip on the canals: a gentle and exotic way to see the city from a different perspective. And when night falls, the lights of ‘Métamorph’Eau’ses’ transform bridges and monuments into a magical setting. But for those who like to travel at their own pace, Champagne is best explored on two wheels: by bicycle… or motorbike, thanks to its greenways and routes that wind through landscapes, villages and vineyards. And to recharge your batteries, what could be better than a relaxing session in the thermal baths of Plombières-les-Bains…

In Champagne, there is no shortage of family outings, and the hardest part is often choosing which one to go on. In Châlons-en-Champagne, start with a boat trip on the canals to see the city from a different perspective, like a ‘sparkling Venice’, then continue the fun in the evening with the Métamorph’Eau’ses light show, when bridges and facades are illuminated and the atmosphere becomes truly magical. For a day in the great outdoors, head out on a bike ride along the greenways (easy to adapt to a shorter version with snack breaks), or enjoy a nature break with bird watching and a rest by the water. For a touch of ‘Champagne’ that’s accessible with children, choose a visit to a cellar or champagne house that offers a suitable welcome (and alcohol-free alternatives): an opportunity to discover the local heritage without complicating your life. And in case of unpredictable weather, the immersive and interactive museum offers a sensory journey to the heart of Champagne. If you’re travelling near Charleville-Mézières, take a trip to the Animal Park (on the Saint-Laurent/Aiglemont side) for a long walk in nature, or immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere at the fortified castle of Sedan. Feel like getting active? The greenway along the Meuse (Trans-Ardennes) is perfect for cycling or scootering.
